Mid Autumn Festival returns

Birmingham Mid Autumn Festival returns this September with a family-friendly celebration of Chinese culture designed especially for children and their grown-ups.

Taking place on Sunday 28 September at the Birmingham Conference & Events Centre, this year’s festival features two lively showings packed with entertainment and activities. Audiences can enjoy a vibrant stage programme including the traditional lion and dragon dances, face changing, Chinese dance, live music and singing.

Around the venue, children can explore hands-on cultural activities such as lantern and fan making, face painting, balloon modelling, trying on traditional Chinese costumes and music-based workshops. Small stalls will also offer pocket-money-friendly toys, sweets and souvenirs for families to enjoy.

Workshops carry a small charge and entry is kept low-cost to ensure the event is accessible for all. Seating is unreserved and families are encouraged to book early, as both showings regularly sell out.

Now attracting around 1,500 people each year, the event is produced by the Birmingham Chinese Festival Committee, which has been bringing Chinese cultural celebrations to the city since the 1990s.

Date: Sunday 28th September 2025

Times: Two showings – 10:30 and 13:00

Venue: Birmingham Conference & Events Centre
