Birmingham LGBT Centre is moving on up!

A brand-new centre for award winning LGBTQ+ charity.

Summer 2025 sees exciting changes for Birmingham LGBT, the largest LGBTQ+ support service in the Midlands. After 12 years in their current site on Holloway Circus, the award-winning charity is moving to a brand-new centre in the heart of the gay village.

The purpose-built space, on Hurst Street, is just 10 minutes’ walk from New Street station and set within the bustle of Birmingham’s lively gay scene. Along with clinical and consultation spaces, the new centre will have hireable meeting rooms and a large café and events area, all situated on the ground floor and fully accessible.

The charity was established in 2002 with the aim of providing for the needs of the diverse LGBTQ+ community. The current centre opened its doors in 2013 as the first LGBTQ+ Health & Wellbeing Centre in the UK.

Fast forward 12 years and the charity has grown from a team of 2 to 26, offering a range of services including sexual health testing and outreach, older peoples support, a domestic violence service, counselling, substance support, youth work and wellbeing support. It is also the home of Shout, a queer arts and cultural programme that creates spaces for creativity, connection and development. The centre also runs peer support groups and provides meeting spaces for LGBTQ+ community groups.

Steph Keeble, Director of Birmingham LGBT said “I am really excited to bring the LGBTQ+ community in the city a new purpose-built LGBT centre in the heart of the Gay Village and can’t wait for people to see the new space, it looks amazing “

The new centre was delivered through Outpost Management’s joint venture with BlackRock Real Estate, in partnership with The Galliard Apsley Partnership. The centre forms part of Outpost’s Lower Essex Street development in Birmingham’s Gay Village.

Outpost Management Operations Director Laura-Jayne Canneman said “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome the new LGBT centre to Enclave: Birmingham City. At Enclave, we’re all about creating spaces where everyone feels respected, included, and able to be themselves. This new headquarters is a brilliant addition to the city and we’re proud to play a part in supporting Birmingham’s diverse and vibrant community.
