CHRISTMAS HAS ARRIVED IN BIRMINGHAM

Birmingham is ready to be unwrapped this Christmas, with a host of festive events taking place across the city! From Christmas markets full of crafts, gifts, food and drink, to ice rinks, shopping and festive trails, the city is bursting with seasonal fun for all ages.

Birmingham’s Christmas season will kick off on Thursday 4th November through to Tuesday 4th January – meaning there’s more than eight weeks of festive fun to be enjoyed across the whole city.

In Southside District, visitors can look forward to a season of festive shows as Birmingham Hippodrome’s star-studded panto opens on 18th December, with Jason Donovan and Matt Slack taking centre stage for Goldilocks and The Three Bears. While at The Old Rep, the Charles Dickens’ classic ‘A Christmas Carol’ is running from 4th – 6th November.

Elsewhere, the famous Frankfurt Christmas Market returns to Victoria Square and New Street from 4th November to 23rd November (10am to 9pm daily). Discover a taste of Glühwein, Bratwurst and crepes, as well as live music and traditional Christmas gifts available from a selection of stalls.

In Centenary Square, Ice Skate Birmingham gives you the opportunity to enjoy ice skating in the heart of Birmingham, while the neighbouring Big Wheel provides jaw-dropping city views and the Ice Lounge provides a cooler climate to meet with friends.

From 17th November to 19th December, families can enjoy Colmore BID’s new Christmas in Cathedral Square Market – a magical festive market in the grounds of Birmingham Cathedral featuring local producers selling crafts, gifts, food and drink.

Near Mailbox, The Suffolk Street Queensway underpass in front of the building is transformed into Christmas at City Social – an independent street market dedicated to food, drink and live music between 25th November and 18th December.

Alongside Christmas markets and ice skating, visitors can enjoy the stunning Walking with The Snowman™ sculpture trail, coming to Birmingham for the first time from 17th November until 6th January, 2022. In a tribute to Raymond Briggs’ magical classic ‘The Snowman’, the trail features 12 sculptures decorated by professional artists to the theme of 12 Days of Christmas.

Pick up your Christmas in Birmingham map to follow the enchanting trail of colourful sculptures, as well as key spots attractions, in locations such as Bullring, Mailbox, Centenary Square, Victoria Square and House of Fraser, where The Snowman™ will be in his very own fifth-floor Snow Village.
